What’s going to happen to my Short Code Number in 2021?

In 2021, wireless carriers are phasing out support for shared short codes, such as 484848, and are requiring customers to move to a dedicated short code or 10-digit Textable number. We are working closely with carriers to plan for these changes so that your service will remain uninterrupted.

We will notify you with instructions on how you can obtain your new 10-digit local number, a dedicated short code, or text enable your existing landline via the EventTexting platform in the coming weeks.

Can I choose a specific number?

Yes. Your monthly subscription includes access to a dedicated, Textable number. You may text-enable an existing landline, select a toll-free number, or select a random local number based on area code.

Can I use my landline or existing business number to send mass text messages?

Yes, with your monthly subscription, you can connect your landline or business number to send mass text messages.

Please note: if your landline is a toll-free number, A2P capabilities are not available at this time.

Can I still use my short code for the time being?

Yes, as your texting partner, we will continue to support your current 5-or-6 digit shared short code and all associated keywords and campaigns until further notice. We continue to work closely with carriers to plan for these changes and keep you informed of the next steps. In the meantime, we recommend you postpone promoting your short code in advertising and wait until your new 10-digit number has been assigned.
